Bhoomi Pujan

Seek the blessings of Mother Earth before you build.

Offered to Bhoomi Devi & Vastu Purush

About this puja

Performed before laying the foundation of a home or building. The pandit worships Bhoomi Devi, Vastu Purush and the Panch Mahabhutas, and places a kalash with a silver serpent pair and panchratna in the foundation pit at the auspicious muhurat.

Why it is performed

Bhoomi Pujan asks forgiveness of the Earth for disturbing her and seeks her consent and protection. It is believed to remove vastu doshas from the plot and ensure that construction proceeds smoothly and safely.
