Annaprashan

Celebrate your baby's very first bite of blessed food.

Offered to Lord Ganesha & Annapurna Devi

About this puja

Annaprashan marks the first time a baby is fed solid food, typically in the sixth month for boys and the fifth or seventh for girls. After Ganesh and Annapurna puja, the child is fed kheer from a silver spoon by a parent or elder.

Why it is performed

Food is revered as a form of the divine. The sanskar seeks blessings for nourishment, health and a lifetime of abundance, and offers thanks to Annapurna Devi, the goddess of food.
